There’s something cosmic about a date like this, something that begs for at the very least some kind of New Year’s Resolution or witty observation. Alas, my daughter is leaving for Peru tomorrow, and I can’t focus on anything but the bulging backpack in middle of the living room, and the knowledge that she will leave us to a very quiet house in a very wet gray month… But she’ll be back in a few months, with stories to tell about Cusco and Machu Pichu and guineau pigs, no doubt! And the good news is that I managed to finish a quilt for her to take to her host family. It is a simple pattern, an original stitching pattern, and it’s all about Oregon’s State Fruit, the lovely pear.
